The Solana Foundation has released @solana/web3.js v3, which keeps the Connection, PublicKey, Keypair, and Transaction classes from v1 and runs them on Solana Kit. It becomes the default npm install on October 19, 2026, and most of the migration is adding await to signing, serializing, and PDA calls.
The Solana Foundation has released Solana DvP, an MIT-licensed escrow program for delivery-versus-payment that settles both legs of a trade in one transaction, with input from J.P. Morgan on institutional settlement practices. Each party funds its leg with a standard token transfer, and a settlement authority named in the trade is the only signer that can settle it.
Metaplex has launched MPL-3643, a permissioned token standard that lets issuers build investor eligibility, jurisdiction limits, lockups, and holder caps directly into real-world assets on Solana. It checks compliance when an account is thawed rather than on every transfer, so most transfers between approved wallets are ordinary Token-2022 transfers.
Blockworks has launched the Unified API, putting its own data and Messari's behind one API key after buying Messari in June. The key covers market data for more than 40,000 assets and standardized financials for more than 400 DeFi protocols, and existing Blockworks and Messari keys already work.
Cloak is live on Solana mainnet, keeping balances, amounts, and counterparties private while letting you prove any transaction to an auditor through a viewing key. Shielding is free and withdrawals cost 0.3%, and the shielded pool opened after more than $500,000 in payment volume during private beta.
Anza has published a migration guide for SBPFv3, the bytecode format that becomes the only deployable one on Solana once SIMD-0500 activates in Agave v4.4. Deployed programs keep running, but 17,332 upgradeable programs still on old bytecode will need a rebuild before they can ship another upgrade.
Solana Foundation president Lily Liu argues that tokenization is a decades-long “token supercycle,” and a new Allium report backs a good part of that up. Solana Name Service is migrating every existing .sol domain to .sns, and holders caught in the August 17 snapshot get a matching new .sol domain for free on the Solana Record Service. The upgrade is automatic with no claim step, but .sol resolution pauses at slot 452,825,395 in mid to late October, so .sns becomes the name to use for payments.
Anchor v2.0.0-rc.1 is a complete rewrite of Solana's most widely used program framework, rebuilt on Pinocchio with binaries over 90% smaller and compute costs three to six times lower than v1. Coinbase Developer Platform has brought its SQL API to Solana in beta, letting developers query SPL Token and Token-2022 activity with plain SQL instead of running an indexer. Two datasets ship at launch, with 500ms freshness to the tip of the chain and 1,000 free queries a month.
Kalshi's live order book is now streaming on DoubleZero Edge, making it the first prediction market to distribute market data over a multicast network and the second venue on Edge after Solana. Four feeds went live at launch, covering full L2 depth and top of book across every sports event contract and crypto perps market Kalshi lists, and Kalshi is waiving its revenue share for the first year.
The Solana Foundation open-sourced Tokens, the codebase behind tokens.xyz, publishing the website, the Assets API, and the internal tooling that tiers each token mint under an MIT license. Tokens covers roughly 300 canonical assets and maps every mint that represents them, so a single Bitcoin page carries cbBTC, WBTC, xBTC, and zenBTC ranked on trading activity rather than pool size alone.
Altitude launched Altitude Accounting, a crypto accounting automation tool that classifies every transaction and syncs it to QuickBooks Online, cutting manual reconciliation at month-end.
