Altitude Accounting Brings Crypto Accounting Automation to QuickBooks

Altitude has launched Altitude Accounting, a bookkeeping tool that automatically classifies every transaction moving through Altitude and syncs it straight to your accounting software, starting with QuickBooks Online. Connect your books once, and each deposit, transfer, onchain settlement, or card charge lands already categorized against your existing chart of accounts.

The tool targets the manual work of crypto bookkeeping: exporting CSVs, re-keying transactions, and reconciling by hand at month-end. It runs through the Altitude app and supports QuickBooks Online at launch, with Xero and DualEntry listed as coming soon.

What is Altitude Accounting?

Altitude Accounting is a crypto accounting automation layer that connects your treasury activity to your general ledger without a subledger or a middle tool in between. Every transaction that passes through Altitude arrives in your books already classified, using the full context Altitude already holds about how the money moved.

It is built on three ideas:

  • Context. Every suggestion comes from Altitude, where the full history of your transactions lives. Counterparty, payment rail, and transaction history all feed the classification.

  • Intelligence. The Altitude Agent learns from your confirmations. The more you use it, the more recurring counterparties and amounts get suggested automatically, and the shorter your review queue gets.

  • Coverage. It handles inbound deposits, outbound transfers, internal moves, and opening balances across rails like USDC, EURC, Wire, SEPA, ACH, and SWIFT, and across multiple currencies.

How does Altitude Accounting work?

Setup is a one-time connection to QuickBooks Online, after which the Altitude Agent pulls in the business's existing chart of accounts rather than imposing its own. From there, classification runs in the background. Every transaction moving through Altitude is categorized using full context: the counterparty, the rail it moved on, and the account's history with it. That coverage spans deposits, bank transfers, onchain settlements, internal transfers, and card charges.

Classified transactions collect in a review queue. A finance team scans them, edits any that need a change, and syncs, at which point the connected books update. There is no export or re-entry step in between.

The system also adapts. Each confirmation feeds the Altitude Agent more of the account's patterns, so recurring counterparties and amounts start getting suggested automatically and the review queue shrinks over time.

What this means for crypto finance teams

Month-end close is where crypto accounting usually breaks down. Transactions move across stablecoins, wires, and cards, and none of it lands in your ledger in a shape your accountant can use. So teams export data, re-enter it, categorize it by hand, and lose days or weeks to reconciliation every period.

Altitude Accounting removes the exporting, the re-entry, and the manual categorization by classifying at the source, where the transaction context already lives. There is no separate subledger to maintain and no extra tool sitting between your treasury and your accounting system.

How to get started

Setup runs through the Accounting section of the Altitude app. Connect QuickBooks Online, let the Agent pull your chart of accounts, and start clearing your review queue. Xero, DualEntry, and more integrations are on the way.
